My name is Jordyn Shaw. I am from Battle Ground, Washington, a small town north of Portland, Oregon. I have a love and passion for horses that developed at a young age. I started learning dressage at the age of 10, and have since ridden and competed through Intermediate I. I have my USDF bronze and silver medals. After graduating with my Bachelor’s in Accounting, I decided to take the big step towards my future dressage career and move to California to accompany Mette and her incredible horses as her groom/working student in March of 2021. It has been a fun and exciting journey so far, with new opportunities arising every day. Working with Mette, I have learned about all the great details that go into the quality care of her top horses. One of the biggest takeaways from my time with Mette is that being a professional in this business is only 10% riding, and 90% everything else. With Mette’s guidance, I have realized that if you have the motivation, dedication, and drive, you can make it anywhere in this world if you just take the chance and do it. The education and experience that I am gaining from working with Mette continues to grow each day, and I am looking forward to many more opportunities with her in the future.
